Beware of Giancarlo Calicchia's Dealings

Integrity in Business Transactions Matters

Giancarlo Calicchia, the notable Cleveland, Ohio sculptor, sold me a piece of property. He knew I was investing to try to pay for my daughters' college. The property needed a lot of repairs. I had secured a rehab loan which would require me to fund the repairs and be reimbursed by the lender. After the significant down payment, I would not have had the money left to fund the repairs. Giancarlo agreed (image to the right) to loan the repair money which the bank would reimburse. Upon closing, Giancarlo immediately left for Italy (yes, left the country). He never fulfilled his obligation, and I was forced to sell at a significant loss - loss of my daughters' college fund. Giancarlo was confronted by his own agent, and replied, "if he doesn't have the money for the repairs, how can he afford a lawyer to take me to court." My lawyer was willing to do it, but the process had been dragged out so long I had to dump the property because the loan term was ending. My goal is to warn you about doing business with such a man.
